Padua Earns AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award

Padua Academy received the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP). This recognition celebrates schools that have expanded access to AP computer science courses for female students, with Padua being one of 847 institutions honored for CSP during the 2023-24 school year.

The students and faculty in AP Computer Science Principles have achieved an important milestone, highlighting Padua Academy's commitment to providing young women with access to computer science education. This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our faculty and the hard work of our students in paving the way for greater gender equity in high-paying STEM careers.

AP Computer Science Principles continues to grow in popularity, with over 60,000 female students taking the exam in 2024—more than four times the number in 2017. Research shows that AP CSP participation significantly increases the likelihood of female students pursuing computer science in college, highlighting the importance of fostering gender equity in this field.
