A Breath of Knowledge

Respiratory Therapist Mike Treut, RRT-NPS, AE-C, from Nemours Children's Health, recently visited Mr. Schimpf's Anatomy & Physiology classes! Students learned all about the daily life of an RT - what it involves for patients, the education provided to families, and exciting career opportunities within the field. 

 

Mike also shared critical insights on EVALI (e-cigarette or vaping use-associated lung injury) and the serious impact vaping has on lung health.  He set up a smoker's lung and a healthy lung side by side on ventilators to compare their functionality.  Our students even got hands-on experience, putting on gloves to feel and see the difference first-hand!
