Padua students in our Culture Crew had the incredible opportunity to present at St. Mary Magdalen’s Respectability Day, sharing their knowledge of different cultures with SMM’s 6th-8th grade students! Covering topics from Europe, Asian Appreciation, India, Vietnam, Kenya, Louisiana Creole, and China, our students delivered engaging and interactive presentations, sparking meaningful discussions with both students and teachers.
We also brought along Padua's Cultural Norms and shared them with the middle school students at St. Mary Magdalen. These Cultural Norms were created by our Culture Crew in 2021 to foster community awareness, inclusivity, and belonging and set the standard for how we see, treat and love one another on a daily basis. Following their presentations, they explored SMM’s Artifact Museum, where middle schoolers proudly displayed artifacts from their own cultures and families. It was an especially meaningful day for Mr. Mahler and Señora Vintigni, who got to see their children, and for Grace Nguyen ’26, an SMM alum, who saw her sister! We even had the chance to meet some future Pandas from the Class of 2029!
Kassidy Derico ’28 shared: “My favorite part of this trip was not only informing them on different cultures they did not know, but I also enjoyed the interactions and questions they asked. This experience was amazing—I would love to do it again next year!”
Milani Ng ’26 added: “I loved how all the kids were interested and asked questions during the presentation.”
Vesna Vuckovic ’26 reflected: “My favorite part of today was interacting with the students and learning about their ancestry too.”
A huge thank you to St. Mary Magdalen for welcoming us and creating such a meaningful experience! We loved witnessing the excitement of students eager to learn... and were excited to see some future Pandas, too!
